   ONE MORE TIME
A comment by Joe Lee III

Dish network has introduced a new DVR that eliminates television commercials. With the device, viewers will no longer have to manually skip over commercials; this gadget will do it automatically.
This feature will definitely not help the television advertising market, especially after other signal providers start offering identical gadgetry.
This may not have the devastating listener impact XM-Sirius has had on local broadcast radio -- at least not right now -- but the future impact, in the words of the Wall Street Journal, will “wreak holy havoc.”

Voter ID
There is absolutely no reason not to have voter ID.
Opponents claim it is not necessary, but all of us know deep down that it is needed, along with a crackdown on absentee vote gathering.
In Florida, officials have identified over 2,600 illegal aliens that are listed as eligible to vote. Non-U.S. citizens have no business on voter rolls for U.S. elections.

After sheriff
The U.S. Justice Department, legal arm of the Democratic National Committee, has announced it is suing Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, for discriminating against Hispanics.
The suit is obviously timed to be playing out during the next six months leading to the election. We have no doubt DNC house organs such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Huffington Post will try to make the most political hay possible out of developing events.

Post office
Things may be changing a little on the postal front. Some of the smaller offices may not be closed, but have reduced hours to save money.
It looks like the sorting centers are still slated to be closed. We’ll try to keep you posted on what the changes mean to our immediate area, but it’s hard to keep up with the policies of an organization that is part private and part political -- especially when the U.S. Congress gets involved.

Future planning
If you want a guide by which to plan your future in the United States -- just look to Greece.
The Greeks are where we will be financially in four to eight years.
Since President Obama has been in office, the federal debt has increased more than $4.21 trillion. The 41 previous presidents had a total accumulated debt of $4.16 trillion. Obama has added additional debt exceeding all his predecessors combined, according CNSnews.com.
The current administration has borrowed an additional $44,980 for every full time private-sector worker, CNS calculates. That means the federal government owes close to a $100,000 for every current worker. (We suspect more accurate calculations, including the numbers the federal government hides from us with shell-game accounting, would be quite a bit higher -- probably double or triple).
There is no doubt that there are too many folks on the wagon and not enough folks pulling the wagon.

P.S. -- As of this writing, gasoline is $3.289 in Batesville and $3.189 in Southaven!
