Two people were found stabbed to death in a Holcomb residence Sunday, according to Grenada County Sheriff Alton Strider.
Sheriff Strider said the bodies of Martha Stoker, in her early 40s, and former Grenada Police Capt. Jimmy Stauddy, 69, were found in Stauddy’s home by his wife, Scottie Stauddy, Sunday afternoon. Stoker lived at the residence as a caretaker for Jimmy Stauddy, who was disabled.
“Deputies were called out to the house with ambulance en route at 4 p.m.,” said Strider. “The victims were found with multiple stab wounds, and the house was undisturbed.”
Stauddy retired from the Grenada Police Department as a police investigator in 2001, after serving over 20 years on the force before retirement. He also retired from the Mississippi National Guard with the rank of Master Sargeant.
According to Strider, because of Stauddy’s ties to the Grenada Police Department, the FBI is taking part in the investigation.
“The investigation is ongoing, with both Grenada and the FBI going down different avenues,” he said.
The bodies were released to the Mississippi Crime Lab for autopsies and to gather evidence.
Strider urges anyone who has any information to call the sheriff’s office at 227-2877.

Mr. Stauddy protected me and my children when no one else would. He gave me his home number and saved us more than once. He was one of the most honorable men I have ever known.

Words cannot express the grief and hurt that is in my heart today. Brother Jimmy was a great man and will be missed by all who knew him. Please keep Scottie and the Stauddy and Stocker families in your prayers. And also, please remember our church, Minter City United Methodist Church. God bless you.

I lived in Holcomb 21 years of my life and would have never thought something this horrible could happen in this small town. My prayers go out to the families and let us all pray that this horrible person or persons are caught very soon. Are we really safe anywhere we live? I know that Alton and his crew will do everything in their power to catch whoever did this horrific crime. God bless the families and the people of Holcomb, MS.

This is quite a shock and loss to our family. Thank you, Sheriff Striker and other police agencies for their hard work on this case, and for many people's prayers. I think maybe the murder was planned and that the killer(s) knew one or both victims because it happened while Mrs. Stauddy was away and because several stab wounds suggest emotional or passionate motive. I'll miss my cousin Martha. a Kinley Hardin, first cousin of Martha Stoker

Thank you all for your prayers for my family and the Stauddy family. I can not fathom so much rage and hate for any one but especially for 2 people whose lives were obviously about service for their fellow men. i don't understand why people have to be so mean to each other. Please, God, help all of us to find who did this.

I have been a friend of Scottie's sister Jackie since the 8th grade and hearing of this horrific crime from Jackie today was so shocking. I just can't believe it. I have so much anger for anyone who cowardly takes the life of anyone much less a disabled person. My heart goes out to Scottie, Jackie and family as well as the Stoker family.

Everyone here is so totally right it takes a coward to attack a disabled person however they do not diserve to serve life in prison at our expense and lethel injection is to easy to kill them. i knew jimmy for years and they should be shot on site for this attack. good thing they didn't attack him in the past when he could defend himself or there would be a different outcome. my prayers are out to his family and also the many coworkers he had some of which had to process the scene.

Bro Jimmy was our pastor when I was a child. I remember he and Scottie as wonderful people. I am so sorry that someone that gave so much was taken away so brutally. I pray his killer is caught and no mercy shown.

This is really sad, I hope that they catch who ever did this. People that kill need to be sent to prison and be whipped each and every day of the rest of there life, I bet you then, that people would really and truly think twice about killing someone.

This was the act of a coward whose justice is sure to come whether by law enforcement or at the hands of a law abiding citizen protecting his or her home. Do not fear those who take the lives of innocent people, have them fear you... This cowards day will come. I will send up a prayer for the family and for justice.

Keep your doors locked and be prepared for anything this day and time. We are all subject to crimes such as this. It is imperative to be armed for things like this. Do not let this scare you. Adapt and prepare for your own justice and to insure the safety of your home.

It takes an awful breed of person to kill someone so viciously, especially someone who is disabled and either can't defend themselves at all or who would have a hard time trying to. I hope whoever is responsible for this is punished to the fullest extent of the law, and yes, that means the lethal injection table.

This is such an awful tradegy and living in the same area makes you feel uneasy. Who could have done anything so horrible. Our prayers and thoughts are with both families during this time of morning
